We just got back from a crazy quick trip to India to attend my brother’s big fat Indian wedding (okay it may not be big and fat by Indian standards but it was by mine ;)) and boy it’s been tough settling back into reality! We’ve come back to allergy season (which has knocked me flat all week), rain and a long list of to-dos for the house. But at least I can reminisce about the two straight weeks of eating, dancing, laughing, celebrating and just all out partying with the family in Delhi!

A sweet note from my sister-in-law a.k.a. the beautiful bride waiting in our room

Surprisingly, Ria recovered from jet lag fairly well and quickly discovered she was the center of attention and could get her way with the family (how do kids figure this stuff out?!). She definitely had the most fun being pampered and having no limits on screen time. But oh well, we’re thankful she was a trooper through all the crazy late night events and general chaos that is India! She was very much at home in my childhood home which made this trip special for me :).

Look who’s totally comfortable on grandma’s couch!

Here are some snippets from events before and after the wedding – it was basically a 4 day carnival and we enjoyed every minute of it!

The celebrations began with a Mehndi/Henna ceremony. Here we are with Nani (my mom)

Little Ria's henna (left) and mine (right)

Look who was super excited to be all dressed up!

The Mehendi ceremony was followed by a Haldi (turmeric) ceremony the next morning. We’re in Kerala style Kasavu outfits here from South India to respect the bride’s paternal heritage.

Loved these outfits cause they were so comfy

And believe it or not the wedding was on the same evening! I’m not sure how the bride survived the back to back events but she did and she looked stunning too!

Here’s the wedding couple (center) with full family

Our outfits for the wedding were my favorite of the lot since I was twinning with my little doll! She had a blast playing with my sister and her best friend...and became quite the poser!

Standard photographer request: cheesy shot with couple gazing into each other's eyes ;)!

Luckily the religious part of the ceremony wasn’t too long and the priest even gave a 15 minute coffee break…HA!

And now let’s get to the most important part of the trip…FOOD! If you know anything about Delhi – it is a foodie’s paradise and we indulged in every sweet, sour and savory bite…to the point we were afraid to step on the weighing scale after coming back ;)!

Kebabs at Chor Bizarre – Bikaner House (hubby was in heaven!)

The interior of Bikaner House - bangels as decor

Sauces galore – sweet, tangy, spicy, savory!

My favorite south Indian Rava masala for breakfast – yes please, every day!

A beautiful selection of Bengali sweets sent from the bride’s home – almost too beautiful to eat…we ate them anyway ;)!

We didn’t end up going to a ton of places outside the wedding events but here are a few shots of the restaurants/cafes we did visit where the food was amazing (obviously) and decor was stunning! Yum Yum Cha had the most amazing ceiling feature made entirely of folded paper!

Yum Yum Cha

Met an old school friend here at Cafe Tesu and just loved the casual vibe!

So now we’re back and so so jet lagged but it’s always worth it to spend some time with family since we live so far away. I’m looking through the hundreds of photos we took of the entire trip and wedding and dreaming about my next trip to India and spending more time with family…
